Magnolia’s 47-Day Challenge: Redux

by Magnolia on January 3, 2010

Well, here I am.  The day before I was scheduled to get back into my 47-Day Challenge, that was derailed by the holidays.  Life is never a cake walk is it?

Like most new ideas, resolutions, convictions, decisions to change, my daughter was enthusiastic about the entire notion.  However, since several weeks, a couple of holidays and plenty of time to lose steam has settled in, her enthusiasm has waned.  Considerably.  But, that is what focus is all about.

The decision to do anything is, of course, the easiest part.  I’m really good at making decisions.  I’m not really good at following through.  I take much solace in the fact, however, that I am not alone in this dilemma.  It is part of the human condition.

But, keeping your eye on the ball so to speak, through the myriad emotional and psychological changes that occur after you make the decision – well, that’s the part that will get things accomplished.

It’s back to that jumping metaphor I talked about here. You just have to go for it.  Which is exactly what I plan to do.

I have other goals which are going to be included in my 47-Day Challenge, but I don’t know if I’m going to include them here.  Maybe.  We’ll see.  But, for now, I’m going to have to redefine my original plan.  I think I’m going to carry this one out until the end of June 2010.  That is an easy focal point for me because I have some other goals that will be achieved or close to it, by that time.

So, here’s the new plan:  Magnolia’s 47-Day Challenge has now become Magnolia’s 6-Month Challenge and here’s what I plan to focus on during these six-months:

  • Exercise 5 days per week in some form or fashion
  • Abstain from drinking Wine (this is going to be my nemesis, I just know it)
  • Organize my schedule to include time for prayer & spiritual pursuits
  • Organize my schedule to include time for writing & launching a writing career (more to come on this later)
  • Blogging about my success/failure/challenges throughout the 6 months

The first day begins tomorrow, January 4, 2010 with the Boot Camp at my health club.  Considering I have a bit of a cold and I’m feeling a bit run-down from all of the hoo-ha, traveling and food indulgences, this may be even more of a challenge.

But, I’ll be here to blog about it daily (unless the earth moves or something).  So, I’ll see you tomorrow.
