I hope some of you took advantage of the recent link to Eileen’s blog and took the survey for Suzanne Braun Levine’s book. I did. After I submitted the survey, I listened to the interview and was blown away at the assessment Suzanne had on women in mid-life when it comes to relationships.
Here, I thought I was all unique and everything, but as it turns out, I’m just like ya’ll!! My attitudes to toward love, relationships, sex and marriage seem to be rather predictable at my age. The words authentic, courage, deliberate choices are common among women in relationships in mid-life. That is, we tend to want more authenticity in our relationships, we want to be a part of our relationships because that is what we “choose” rather than because we have no other options.
I found the the entire subject fascinating because I honestly thought my mid-life analysis was a bit unique to my own personal life. As it turns out, it is very common for women our age to question our life in those terms. So, anyway. It was pretty enlightening and I am looking forward to seeing the finished product in her book.
I wanted to mention that I will be doing a Feisty Radio interview with Eileen next month. That is the plan anyway. If something changes, I’ll let you all know. But, as it stands now, I’ll be doing a 15 minute interview with her discussing my blog, blogging in mid-life, The Magnolia Diaries and how it all got started. I’ll post a link to it when we’re done. Should be fun.
Finally, I wanted to mention that I’ve launched yet another blog. Yes, in deed. This blogging has become quite a habit for me. I will not be making it public however until I build up the content significantly. Because there is so much traffic that comes to this blog for perimenopause, I’ve decided to launch a blog devoted only to that. It will be called The Perimenopause Blog and will be as the name suggests, a blog solely about perimenopause.
I’ve already imported all of my perimenopause posts from this blog to that one. I plan to leave (I think) the posts here that I’ve done but anymore posts I do will be posted on and linked from here to that blog. I will then focus my efforts to drive perimenopause traffic to that blog instead. The Magnolia Diaries will continue it’s focus of women’s issues in mid-life, but will include a broader spectrum of posts rather than such a narrow focus of perimenopause.
I continue to be amazed at the amount of hits this blog gets on perimenopause. So, rather than narrow the focus of this blog, I will shift those posts to that blog. Besides, sooner or later Magnolia will not be perimenopausal (let’s hope it’s sooner) and I can focus this blog on menopause and post-menopause life issues.
So many subjects, so little time.
I’ll keep you all posted on the new blog and the radio interview.

Thank you, Magnolia, for yet another reference to Feisty Side of Fifty and my interview with Suzanne Braun Levine. From her vantage of being in the forefront of women’s issues for many years, she has amazing insights into our growth and development at midlife. I, too, took the survey and can’t wait for the book to come out.
But, my truly exciting news is that I’ll be getting the chance to interview YOU and hear what you’ve got to say about our journey through shifting hormones, middle age, family life and more. I am really looking forward to this one my friend!
You’re welcome once again Eileen. I’m looking forward to the interview too. Say what you want about mid-life, but it “ain’t” boring.
